WELCOME

We are delighted that you have decided to attend our Regional. Spring is in the air and we have a schedule designed to bring you out of those winter doldrums. There will be lots of great hospitality throughout the tournament, a Daily Bulletin, prizes for our winners and trophy Pairs for various levels of Novice/Intermediate players. Don't forget the Swiss teams on Sunday which will be playthrough (with short snack break) so you can get on the road at a reasonable hour.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION ABOUT PARKING. Parking space downtown is very limited during business hours on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. No problem for the evening games and on Saturday and Sunday. There is a parking garage on 11th Street between West and Tatnall. We will be running a shuttle between 11:45 am to 12:45 am, at the end of the afternoon game, and at the end of the evening game. The shuttle drivers will pick you up from that garage at the bottom of the staircase at 11th and Tatnall.

If you prefer to walk, weather permitting, it takes about 9 minutes. Shuttle drivers will be our host Unit 190 members using personal vehicles. At all sessions, remember to get your parking ticket validated to obtain a reduced parking rate. Parking will cost $12.00, but if you get it stamped you can park for $5.00 and the host Unit will make up the difference.

There is parking under the host hotel at all times if you can get it. It is $7.50 during the day on weekdays, $2.00 during evenings and on Saturday, but is free on Sunday. If you park under the host hotel, you should get your ticket stamped as well, but hotel guests will have their parking charged directly to their room and don't need stamps.

Host Unit member Ed Malloy has gone to a lot of trouble to try and make the best of an awkward situation. Thanks Ed !

ENTERTAINMENT/GOODIES: Wednesday there will be beer and pizza after the evening session. Please watch the Daily Bulletin each day for snacks, goodies, entertainment, etc. which will be announced.

PRIZES: The prize desk will be located in the Cloak Room and you can pick up your section top or other prizes there. Jess & Lois Stuart and their committee members will be manning the desk these hours: 11:30 to 12:45 Thursday, Friday and Saturday; 6:00 to 7:15 Thursday, Friday and Saturday; 10:00 to 10:45 on Sunday; and for one hour after the last Sunday session.

Please note that prizes for the Novice/Intermediate games are available where their games are played in Salon C.

There will be no overall prizes. No crying and moaning about this is allowed. Please accept it, get a life, and move on.

Section top prizes will be awarded for: the highest score in each direction of each section of stratified, flighted or strata-flighted games; the winner of each bracket of KO team games; the winner of each strata of two-session stratified Swiss team games; and the overall winner of single-session KO or Board-a-match team games.

NOVICE/INTERMEDIATE: The Novice/Intermediate program will be located in Salon C. Donna Bowser will be directing and running it. Please come and enjoy.

PARTNERSHIPS: The partnership desk will be located in the foyer near the ballroom and will be open 45 minutes before each afternoon and evening session. Mary Beyer, Dorothy Heldt and their committee members will be there to help you find a partner. Note: Novice/Intermediate partnerships will be handled in the N/I area in Salon C.

DINING OUT: Marie Anzilotti and her committee members have made a nice Restaurant Guide that you may wish to use when eating out. Please check in the foyer near the ballroom to pick up a copy.

DAILY BULLETINS: We will have a Daily Bulletin each day beginning Thursday with winners, announcements, new LM's, and other goodies. There will be a box in the Director's Office for you to leave names (and hometowns too please) of new Life Masters, important announcements, or anything else you feel might need to be included.

DISTRICT 4 BOARD MEETING: The District 4 breakfast meeting will be held Saturday at 10:00 am in Salon L on the hotel second floor.

SMOKING POLICY: The tournament will be a non-smoking tournament. If you care to smoke during the hospitality breaks, this can be done outside. Go through the Foyer and doors leading to the back deck.

RECORDER: If any incidents arise which require you to file a recorder report, please see District 4 Recorder Don Swan.
